It is now simpler to import Visio processes into Oracle BPM 12c, and new functionality has been added.

Here is a 7 minute video that shows how they can be imported using Oracle BPM Business Process Composer or Oracle BPM Studio (JDeveloper) 12c.

Prerequisites:

The BPMN Visio processes need to be exported using Visio 2007 or 2010 into a VDX format.

Improved Functionality:

  • The names of the processes imported can be a combination of the Visio file's name, the pool's name or the Visio page's name.  One or all of these can be used.
  • If there are multiple pages in the Visio file, there is an option to select the pages to be imported as separate processes
  • After the process has been imported, Oracle BPM 12c processes can now be renamed.
  • Although most customers will be importing processes from Visio, other file formats that can be imported into processes include BPMN 2.0, processes using Oracle's original Workflow tool and XPDL.
