As 2011 comes to a close, we were fortunate to have a large number of the Avio team together for a night of celebration. With some of the team geographically dispursed most of the year, it is always nice to have as many people as possible in one place to reflect on the year and enjoy an evening of fine food. We also took the opportunity to raise a glass to thank all of our clients who made this year possible. Here's to a wonderful 2011 and a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2012 for everyone.
Happy holidays from Avio!
Recently, one of our clients (Hey, Kris!) mentioned he follows the blog and suggested a post on which sessions at Oracle Open World we recommend attending. It was a fantastic idea and given OOW is less than a month away and the session schedule is now finalized I decided it would be a good idea to get the post out sooner rather than later.
Because there are different audiences who attend OOW, I've segmented the list to highlight the top three sessions for both technical and non-technical audiences.
I initially started this blog series on a Modular BPM COE with the best intentions of wrapping it up quickly. Given that I started the series a little over a year ago, I would say that I have not kept up the pace to well! However, as the expression goes: Good things come to those who wait. Therefore, I hope everyone finds this series valuable!
I received a juror summons a month or so ago and actual looked forward to seeing how the overall judicial process worked. I was even okay with being selected as a juror since the trial wasn't going to be very long. After one and a half days arguments and testimony, we were given our jury charge and set off to deliberate. From my standpoint, based on the expert testimony and the other witnesses the case was fairly straight forward.
As Avio continues to grow, we keep outgrowing our office space. Starting on March 14th, we are relocating to yet another office. We will still be in the same office building we are in now, but are moving down the hall a bit to a larger office space. This will be our third office within a year which I think speaks not only to the growth we are seeing within Avio, but to the overall adoption of BPM within the market.
Over the past month, we've had two separate projects in Oracle BPM 11g go into production. From what we hear, because the technology is fairly new, there aren't a tremendous amount of projects based on Oracle BPM 11g that have made it into production. In keeping with one of our goals in being a innovative and leading edge consulting organization, we feel it is a pretty cool honor to have two projects now in production and contributing tremendous value to our client. Both of the projects are used by end users geographically distributed around the world. Previously, th
Gartner recently released their research report from Oracle OpenWorld entitled "Oracle OpenWorld 2010: BPM Plays an Important Supporting Role" and it was nice to see Avio mentioned in the research report.
As the projects we have become involved with lately have begun to be much larger in size and much broader in scope, I have spent a lot of time recently thinking about a modular BPM COE. In part one, I blogged on the Governance component of a modular BPM COE. In this installment of the COE series, I'd like to spend some time talking about the Resourcing component. Resour
It seems that since April, someone has flipped the BPM light switch. I'm not sure if it is the economy, a renewed interested in process improvement, or the comfort level of corporations releasing funds for projects, but the number of projects leveraging BPM seems to be increasing each month. Of course, I'd love to believe Avio is seeing more of these projects simply because our reputation is starting to make its way throughout the market, but I'm not quite ready to believe that yet.
In an earlier blog post, I outlined the four areas of a BPM COE: Governance, Resourcing, Execution, and Reporting and Metrics. In this particular post, I'm going to provide some additional details on the Governance aspect of the COE. As I mentioned in the earlier post, Governance can be one of the most difficult components of the COE to build due to the large number of constituents and high level within the organization that needs to be involved. In organizations where o
